Back in the late 1980s, while working on an oil painting, I looked at my palette and discovered an incredible, accidental painting of koi swimming in muddy water. Unfortunately, I threw away this accidental masterpiece because it was on cheap, wax paper. Nowadays if I see another great accidental composition, I make sure to photograph it.
